Make a Nickel bank (click here for pattern and instructions). Use paper or plastic nickels to add, subtract or multiply by fives. |

Take a large sheet of butcher paper, a yardstick and ruler to measure the size of a real adult male bison.

Use Jiffy Mix CORN MUFFINS. |

Make FENCE-POST FRENCH TOAST: cut it into strips and arrange like a fence. |

Make buffalo NICKEL COOKIES (recipe follows). Count by dozens. Plan how many will fit on a baking sheet. |

Recipe for NICKEL COOKIES: |
|
2 oz. (2 squares) semi-sweet chocolate
3/4 c. sugar
1 T. milk
2-1/4 c. flour
3/4 c. or 1-1/2 sticks butter
1 egg
1 t. vanilla extract
1-1/2 t. baking powder
1/4 t. salt, 1-1/2 t. cinnamon, 1/2 t. allspice, 1/4 t. cloves, 1/4 t. nutmeg
Chocolate sprinkles
Melt chocolate over low heat in a small saucepan. Set aside. Cream butter and sugar together. Add egg, milk and vanilla extract and mix well. Sift together dry ingredients. Slowly add dry ingredients a little at a time until well blended. Divide dough in half. Wrap half in plastic wrap and chill for one hour. Slowly mix melted chocolate with remaining dough until well blended. Wrap chocolate dough in plastic wrap and chill one hour. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Roll dough out on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8" thick. Dip cookie cutter in flour and cut out Nickel cookies. Place cookies on ungreased cookie sheets. Sprinkle hump with chocolate sprinkles and pat lightly. Bake 8-10 minutes until lightly browned. Cool on racks. Enjoy! |
